There are many weight loss foods that actively help the reduction of excess weight and anyone can learn about them. Some foods help control weight while others actively promote the burning of excess body fat. Weight loss foods do not have to be mundane because that is the surest way for someone to become bored and stop eating healthily.

Dishes that contain certain vegetables like cabbage, Brussels, peas, lentils and of course pasta can be regular additions to main meals. You can enjoy the delicious spaghetti with tomato sauce and low-fat veal without having to count the calories in it. Many meals highlight the combination of steamed white fish and vegetables a healthy low calorie option and you can even add mashed potatoes to this mix without worrying about calories. You can even eat fresh sweet cheese providing it is low fat but yoghurt; porridge and even dark rice are healthy weight loss foods.

Of course fruit and vegetables should not even have to be mentioned but almost all of them have beneficial effects on the system and are foods that help with weight loss. For instance, water melons may be primarily water but they are still very good for the health of the metabolism as are kiwi fruit and strawberries.

Foods with high a sugar content (amongst others) like chocolate, cakes and fast foods are not good for healthy weight loss, in fact probably the complete opposite; unhealthy weight gain. However, there is some great low-fat source of energy you can take advantage of in special products such as low fat ice-cream and cookies, dark chocolate, low-fat mayonnaise and the list could go on. If you want to include such products in your weight loss food programming, it would be a good idea to read all the specifications on the packages as related to the ingredients and the amount of calories.

Grapes are often the fist fruit of choice when visiting a sick friend in hospital and there is good reason for this as they are very healthy but fruits to avoid owing to their higher calorie count are bananas and figs. Of course vegetables are mainly made up of water but also contain amounts of healthy nutrients and minerals plus large quantities can be eaten without weight gain so the likes of tomatoes, cucumber, celery, lettuce are all good weight loss foods.
